Would pausing cause the starter to burn out?

I have seen customers go through numerous starters and the problems have been defective remanufactured parts or problematic flywheels. Try buying new instead of reman and inspect the flywheel. Be sure that, if using after-market starter, the nose clearance is correct and it is aligning properly.
no, pausing on accesories has nothing to do with the starter. when you turn the key you are actualy turning a switch, the accesorie position sends currant to all the things in you your car EXCEPT your ignition system and your starter. your starter does not get any current from the ON position either, if it did your starter would run even when the motor was running. your starter only gets electricity when the switch is turned beyond the ON, to the START position, the springy portion of the switch.
another killer of starters is heat, does the starter sit anywhere near the exhaust system? if it does an insulative wrap is available to help this problem.
how can a starter burn out if its not running….
it would not matter if continuous or pause but personnally i like to pause on ignition on (engine not running) to hear all that clicks and hum and then start the engine. its like giving time for the onboard computer time to reset all sensors during a pause in ignition on position.
In must vehicle’s you will be able to turn the key in one motion, but so vehicle’s will need to have a pause to aloud the fuel pump to kick in , that only if the fuel pump is getting weak. It wont hurt your starter in either case.
Just start the car please.
Short of running a car without oil, it will take more abuse than you can toss at it.
