Personally, I’d start with a couple of those U-shaped radio extractor tools. icon smile What tools does a beginner need in car audio?

-A digital multimeter is the most important tool you will own.
-A crimping tool like this one: http://ak.buy.com/db_assets/large_images/536/90140536.jpg
-Soldering tools
-Wire strippers that can strip insulation in the middle of a wire, like these: http://images.marketplaceadvisor.channeladvisor.com/hi/55/55124/gbstripcrimp_a.jpg
-A cordless driver/drill, small and lightweight. The new lithium-ion drills are expensive but worthwhile.
-A drill bit set, including step drill bits like these: http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51KHK8YG37L._SL500_AA280_.jpg
-Diagonal cutters: http://www.knipex.com/fileadmin/site/knipex/Bilder/Produktfotos/catalog/74072004.jpg
-Hook and pick sets, both large and mini: http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/418EXXoNuYL._SS500_.jpg
-A file set
-Aviation snips: http://us.st12.yimg.com/us.st.yimg.com/I/yhst-15470445735592_2009_16935417
-A radio removal tool set: http://www.autotoys.com/pics/AST7807.jpg
-Panel removal tools: http://us.st12.yimg.com/us.st.yimg.com/I/rodi_2012_94296573
-A small blowtorch

In addition, you’ll need a basic mechanic’s tool set which includes a full set of wrenches and sockets (both SAE and metric sizes), screwdrivers, torx drivers, hex drivers, and files.

Installers who do lots of fabrication or fiberglass work will need tools for those specialties. Installers who build boxes will need woodworking tools like routers, jig saws and table saws.

Here’s another list of installer tools you can take a look at: http://www.installer.com/tech/tools.html

Good luck!
