In general, Honda and Toyota are the most reliable brands, and Jaguar one of the worst, with BMW somewhere in the middle. But when buying cars as old as 1987 and 1998, the only way to know how good the car is, is to have a qualified mechanic inspect it BEFORE you buy it.
