basically “car wash” soap has specific stuff in it to prevent UV rays and other contaminants….not to mention are designed with no abrasives so they don’t scratch ur paint….

simple green and purple power are high strength degreasers that can damage paint if used directly on it…….but is usually fine in diluted form….

dish soap is designed for washing dishes….and usually has additives to keep hands from getting rough from the process…

1) Read up at Meguiars.com or mothers.com which are the 2 biggest car care supplier companies.

They will provide you with a lot of information.

2) Your car’s paint is a complicated surface to take care of and to “look” good. As a result, the particular soaps for car washing are designed specifically for those surfaces.

Most importantly, you don’t want to strip off everything from the remove everything from the car paint. You want to leave any car wax layers on, as well as any “oils” that add gloss or protect from UV.
Some car wash even leave a thin layer of residue to protect or lubricate the paint.

Most of the non-car cleaners you mentioned will remove those protective layers from your car, and expose the paint to the elements. Some may strip off the wax, and or the lower layers as well.

3) You need to use some common sense that different cleansers do different things . Why don’t you wash your human body with car wash soap, or dish soap or ammonia or simple green? If you understand the answer to that question then you have the same answer for car paint.

4) Bottom line is if you care about the appearance of your car, you should just use car wash products to wash your car. They are not expensive, and you are already using so much effort to do a car wash, you might as well use the right stuff.
