I bought this new from E-Bay for 199 dollars. I love it. I think it will perfect, not really concerned about the weight. I figure 10 lbs with tent, sleeping bag and pad. Works for me, of course my pack with gear will probably 65-70 lbs anyway, and I aint runnin from anything anyway. Not getting out there on my own and not having what I need to survive. Yes I have packed and can pack that much weight

@kukulkan07 glad you like it, I agree, if it were lighter, and more headroom, it’d be perfect

Pros from the tent are the black out & materials used are top notch. This winter during holidays I used the tent in the east coast (North Carolina& Pittsburgh) I was rather comfortable in the tent. In conclusion, in a bug out situation I will most certainly take the whole tent with me regardless of the weight burden. I really hope that the tent was more available commercially including the cost so that others out there could experience the benefits of the tent. grate review best regards-

I purchase the TCOP tent from gr8gear.com about a year in a half . I have used the tent plenty let me say this tent has proven to be very versatile in its many uses.To give an example, times when the weather was not very cold all I will carry is the tarp/footprint/stakes/rods along with my goretex bi-vi sac. While in other situations the whole tent was the most fitting. Downs was the fact that is a tight fit, cant really stand/kneel but barely lay down & sit. The weight is taxing continue

@usarmycaptainamerica wiggys in wonderful, love their sleeping bags, Those tent/bivvy are a mixed bag for me, they offer storm protection but you can barely change cloths in them, a bag bivvy and a tarp is a better lightweight option in my opinion

@beast12101 — If you want to see some really good bug out shelters try looking at the website “wiggys” they have individual military sleeping bags and shelters there.

They have been supplying th emilitary and Special Operations for many years.

They have a military/bug out shelter there that weighs 2.5 pounds. Far more reasonable in weight and price than the above tent.

When it comes to sleeping bags you can even have the sleeping bag vaccum shrunk and sealed to save space.

@beast12101 — Like I had mentioned before that a bug out situation is a survival situation and you are looking for gear that willserve more than one purpose (if possible) and you should be working from a minimalist mindset.

The individual Soldier can use a bivy sack, and a sleeping bag and maybe a sleeping pad which will suffice and be lighter than that tent.

@beast12101 — I like the design of the tent and am in the military although I have never used this tent.

Everyones needs may be unique and change from situation to situation, however there are universal standards.

Even if that tent sits in a bug out vehicle you have to factor in that you may very well end up on foot and and carrying 7 plus pounds of just tent for an individual Soldier/person is just too much weight, as that does not even factor in any sleeping bag or other gear.

@usarmycaptainamerica yes, but also keep in mind everone’s “bug out ” is unique to their situation

@blacksunapocalypse — A bivy sack and a light weight sleeping bag will suffice. Keep in mind that when bugging out you are looking to SURVIVE, not go camping in style. 7lbs is WAY too heavy for a bug out shelter.

7 pounds seems like an awful lot for a bug-out tent. Do you reckon it’s worth it?
