Question: Things to check on a car coming out of storage?4 Things to check on a car coming out of storage?
The pictures have nothing to do with the content!!

I have a 2003 Chevy Impala with 66,000 miles on it that has been sitting idly for 3 years in an indoor private garage. I forgot to unhook the battery cables when I put it into storage 3 years ago so now the battery is dead. Other than replacing the battery that is dead what should I check? When the car went into storage it was in perfect condition. Thanks.

Chaing oil, Battery, Fuel Filter and make sure the brakes are serviced so that they don’t stick.

Answer by Ivan M
change the oil, check the condition of the coolant.
Empty out the fuel tank, Fuel rots sort of, and just gets dirty. Also install a new filter.
Check your brakes, brake fluid,
Check the transmission fluid.
Check your tire pressure.

Were there any leaks under the car? if so see what leaked out, and check the level on whatever it leaked out of.

Check the air filter, the air filter housing, sometimes animals or bugs make homes out of them.

Car should be fine.

they battery is probably still good, give it a nice long charge over night with a battery charger.(worked for my bros 79 camaro)
check that battery wires are in good condition. clean up the post and terminals really good.
then check that the oil is still good,
check all other fluids, replace any that need it.
make sure the spark plugs are still good, and gapped right.
check that the plug wires are still good.
check all filters.
check pcv valve (shake it. makes noise=good, nothing moves in it=bad, replace).
the gas is going to be stale sitting that long, so run it till its gone or syphen it out, and replace it.
check lug nuts for proper torque pressure.
air up the tires to the max psi
balance tires, and maybe get them alligned
make sure no lights are out
make sure brakes are good, replace brake fluid and bleed the lines
throw a nice protective layer of undercoat on it
check for any majr leaks and rust if there are any
wash, buff, and wax the car,
start er up, throw your favorite cd in, and take it for a loonng cruise.

Check all the fluids and the brakes. Also may want to check the tire pressure.
