Table Skirts : Cover a Table, Create a Display

Table skirts create effective marketing displays in any public arena. Not only do they over unsightly tables, table skirts provide a hassle-free solution to advertise a particular brand, product or name. Found in public environments such as banquet halls, conventions and trade shows, table skirts make a big impact while requiring little effort on the user’s behalf. In most cases, all the user has to do is drape the covers over 4, 6, or 8 foot tables. Table skirts are available in 4 popular styles to choose from; drapes, runners, stretch covers, and convertibles. To start with, you will want to be sure your fabric is machine washable, wrinkle resistant, and most importantly, fire-retardant, like a premium poly-twill fabric. (Most are, but check to be absolutely sure) Read on to discover what will work best for your business.

Table skirting is generally comprised of fluted fabric (resembling a skirt) that wraps around the perimeter of the table and attaches to a table top section of the same color, using velcro. Table skirts can also be described simply as table covers which drape over a banquet table to create an acceptable presentation. Plain table covers, like drapes or table skirts, are designed to fit most 4, 6, or 8 foot tables perfectly. Many are designed to allow for rear seating comfortably, with the back remaining shorter for the user’s legs to fit underneath. In addition, most include seams at the back so the cover properly aligns with the table. Table skirts and covers are available in several different colors, with many allowing for logo and text imprinting in a 1, 2, or 3 color process. This printing is either heat transferred onto the front of your table skirt, or completed through a more complex, dye sublimation process. In the “dye sub” printing process, your artwork is digitally printed into white fabric, allowing you many more possibilities than heat transferring will. You can print complex designs, photographic images, or art with gradients onto your table skirts with dye sublimation. This process is the ideal choice for you if you’d like to print an image with more than 3 colors. Runners are smaller pieces of fabric usually draped on top of table cloths and skirts, often used as accent pieces. Runners are either plain or include electronically printed logos and designs to further attract patron or client attention. Custom printed logos and text are typically printed on the front of the runner to highlight a company’s name or organization. Generally 30 or 60 inches wide, table runners serve as table accents usually consisting of an opposing color to the underlying table cover. A full-color table runner is ideal for anyone traveling to events where the display table is show-supplied. Unlike most table throws, a table runner fits any size table to customize your exhibit quickly and efficiently. This way, you can save money and just buy one table runner for all of your marketing events. Convertible table throws are highly versatile and very easy to use. These covers are ideal for situations where table sizes change from show to show. Convertible table covers will just as easily fit a large 6 foot table, and a small 4 foot table, without having to cut or sew the fabric. They include velcro strips sewn into the reverse side of the cloth which allow for the size reduction. Convertible table covers “convert” simply, with attached velcro holding the extra fabric in place. This is accomplished neatly, and with full coverage on all 4 sides. Finally, the most modern table cover, is called a stretch table skirt. Stretch table skirts transform ordinary tables into form-fitting, designer displays. Stretch table covers fit snugly over tables with full coverage, eliminating any wrinkles. Table feet slip into pockets sewn into the inside of the throw. After you slide the cover over the table, simply close the zipper located at the rear of the throw. This stretches the cover creating a tight fit, giving it that characteristic curved appearance. Additionally, the zipper also allows for easy access to items or supplies stored underneath. Stretch covers fit larger tables, 8 feet long, 30″ high by 30″ deep. You can buy them as is (unprinted), or printed with a front-only dye-sub, or full-bleed dye-sub. The term “dye-sub” refers to dye sublimation, which is the electronic printing process allowing for full color, complex designs to be imprinted onto table covers and skirts, discussed previously. Full-color graphics and attractive curves are sure to attract more customers and patrons to your table, at your next public event.

Table skirts are a must-have when marketing your brand in any public arena. Table skirts are often used in banquet halls, at trade shows, conventions, marketplaces, schools, libraries, bookstores, malls, sales exhibits, and hospitality events everywhere. Not only do they bring professionalism to your exhibit, they also transform your table into an effective marketing display that you can be proud to stand (or sit) behind.
