@nepsa17 the problem is that i don’t know the side stroke because I never heard of it in my high school swim team, but you are right i can do about 55 push ups in a row, but after i was done swimming i only did 35
@danielkrieger1 the breast stroke is more simple but in the long run, the breast stroke will wear you down a lot faster than the side stroke. a good way to find out why is to try doing 10 laps in the pool with the breast stroke then try and do push ups 2 minutes after you get out of the water. then on a different day try the side stroke. theres a substantial difference between the two when it comes down to endurance.
Looks like a standard breast stroke with a breath each stroke.

@danielkrieger1 This is done with fins in actual missions, it also leaves a very small profile on the water (Stealthy) This is the best stroke when efficiency, speed and stealth are needed.
What’s more efficient? Scissor kick or this frog type kick?
so what is the point of this stroke? the breast stroke looks a lot more simple and effective so why don’t they just do that
@ExplorerXofXGibson He’s right. What he means is if you try to swim fast you will go slow. If you swim slow you will go fast. It’s the same with sawing wood. The slower you saw the faster you cut.

@SNOWBLOZ i felt the same way but everything clicked one time. for me it was basically staying completely on my side until the kick and pushing my arms forward with the kick at just the right time (while sideways). i saw someone post that u get across the pool in 4-6 strokes im thinking wtf? im like 10 strokes
hmmm i never feel like im getting anywhere when im doing this stroke, maybe im just not doing it right or something

I dont see why they let you breast stroke for the assessment.. this side stoke is what will help you save a life one day.
make sure you use fins for breastroke or scissor kick, it will hurt your knees and makes it a lot harder, only use fins for freestyle flutter kick and butterfly kick.
Also, think about pushing your legs down and keeping your but/midsection up.

SIDE STROKE.- Nunca contenga la respiración mientras esté nadando, Centrarse en permanecer relajado en el agua. Levante la barbilla para respirar … no levante la cabeza. Centrarse en la tecnica, y la velocidad vendrá por si misma.

i am going to the pool with my recruiter soon cause i am going to meps soon. i am going to train to be a seal so hopefully this video helps. i am good with fins cause i always went snorkling when there were sharks around so i had to be good at that stuff lol
