for that money probably something american. from ford (focus) or chevy (malibu) or chrysler (sebring). cheaper parts for american cars in case somethign goes wrong. you’re only wanting to spend 3 grand. for a little more you might find some imports that break less often but cost more to replace or service.

I always say buy something that depreciated fast but not because it’s unreliable. Also you might want be sure to stay domestic so you can buy parts later without having them sent from the old country.
You can get a good Chrysler for 00. Lots to pick from. Ford Tauruses were also bad to depreciate quickly. That’s good for you.

I would go with an older style honda civic (91-94) that doesn’t seem to have a lot of body rust and they can usually be found under 000. I know they have a lot of hype but they’re a pretty hard car to kill and only really suseptable to rust on the body. Plus if you need parts for it the car is so popular parts can be found almost anywhere. Hope this helps.

My wife drives a 1997 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme 4 door automatic, 33 mpg, drives great, plenty of power, paid 00 for it 2 years ago, has 200,000 miles on it now. I would have another one in a heartbeat. It had 140,000 miles on it when we got it.
Just thought you’d like to know. If you had 3,000 dollars then, you could put a nice radio into it.

I would get either a Honda or Toyota. Honda Civic coupe or hatchback, Honda CRX, or Honda Prelude would be my top choices. I would also consider a Toyota Celica, Camry or Corolla. All get great gas mileage. Any of these cars will be as reliable as you can get, and the 1st few are pretty sporty as well.
Good Luck!
