Is this a good venture for I am still in high school?
I want to wash cars (wax, buffer, and detail). And steam clean the inside. My plan is to offer at a low price say 5 for everything and hopefully get off to a good start. Another question should I have them come to me or should I drive to them?

hmmmmm. its a little risky to start a business when you’re still in high school. you have to factor in some truths:
1. do you even have enough time to do this – you still want to be able to complete homework and hang out with friends.
2. do you ahve enough money to buy equipment and products you will need (eg. buffer, etc.)
3. do you have any ideas for advertising… ppl wont come to the business if they dont even know it exists
4. will you want to do this? it sounds easy at first, but it can be really tough. you dont want to start the business after having bought all the equipment and end up quitting.

just make sure you’re up for the challenge, and if, after having askes yourself these questions, you are, then , by all means, go for it. if you believe you can do it, you can.

and i would go to the ppls houses, it saves the customers some trouble, and it might end up earning you more customers

Go for it.

It’s a great venture if you can get enough business (like any business). The experience of starting of your own business, while you are still at high school, will teach you a lot of great stuff that you can benefit from for the rest of your life.
Not sure where you live but where I live there are water restrictions and you can’t wash your car – but services have started up which clean your car without chemicals (without using water).
My tips would be:
1) Get some others involved – much quicker and easier to work as a team. You stay the manager. Roster the other guys on different days if need be.
2) Target wealthier people/suburbs.
3) Go to their house to do the job.
4) Drop flyers in letter boxes, post notices on community billboards – at shopping centres, local businesses.
5) Make special offers.
6) You need to get repeat business – think about giving people a special price if they agree to getting their car washed every week, or every second week. Try to build a schedule or regular appointments.

Good Luck!
