I’m catching up on back issues of Fast Times and there was a section on detailing your car.

Autosol Clay Cleaning Kit – Clay, Swift Shine, and 100ml Silicone Wax Removes deeply embedded dirt and contaminants other cleaners leave behind. Includes clay cleansing bar, lubricating spray and poly glaze. Note: To protect your BMW’s paint it is imperative that you wax or poly glaze immediately after cleansing.

What do you think of this particular kit, or any clay cleaning kit? Are they worth the time/money?

The following is the answer:

theyre worth it
and most clay kits only costs around 15 bucks

but you should wax your car afterwards, if you dont wax your car, anything else you do to your car is just pointless

They work, albiet not to the miraculous level most marketing attempts will attest to. It needs to be warm out too or the clay will be too hard and just do nothing but drag along. Also, if your car’s finish is in good shape, you probably won’t notice any difference. It really is a niche product, although most people believe it helps when it really doesn’t. One of those placebo things that works, just not as much or as often as most believe.

Contrary to popular belief, it really is suited as more of a maintenance item than a detailing tool. It removes fine particles embedded in the paint and will help it last longer, but seldom actually improves the looks.

What do you think? Answer below!
