Question: Problems with none English speaking family’s?
The pictures have nothing to do with the content!!
We have had a huge growth in african childrens where I live. Most of the parents do not speak english and don’t/or ack like they don’t understand anything we are saying. We have tried asking them to ask to use our outdoor toys before taking them. They continue to not listen, they disapear and get broken. I live in a place where we don’t have indoor storage. I understand where they came from things were considered for the community so I have tried to be understanding. I just saw a boy on one of my daughters bikes and he was riding it into the side of someones car!!! When I tried speaking to his mother she made out like she couldn’t understand. They wander all over with no supervision. Who should I contact to get some help? I don’t think its a matter police could help in at this point.

They know what their doing! They are playing dumb. You don’t need to speak English to know that they are disrespecting you and your property!

That’s really not good to let them use your stuff without permission. If that boy would have damaged the neighbor’s car the neighbor could’ve sued you because it was your bike even if it was the boy who was riding it. Like the above answer–they know what they are doing. You’re going to have to be tough with them. They don’t live in Africa anymore–they are in the US (I’m guess that’s where you are) and they need to learn the US customs and using people’s stuff without permission isn’t one of them. If you have to, get a chain and lock up the bikes and take any smaller toys inside for the day when your kids are done using them (just put a blanket down inside next to the door and put the toys there so if they’re dirty they don’t get stuff on the floor).

You could try to contact an interpreters office at a hospital. Normally they have on staff people who can interpret for the most needed languages. If your community has a high population of people from an African country they may have an interpreter that you could talk to and ask questions about the culture and how to best handle this situation.
The local university may also have students (international program) or professors that could speak to their culture and this situation.

I agree with Living on a prayer girl, lock uo bikes and stuff like that, and take inside your house toys when they are not being used. I’m sure they know what they are doing, they just don’t care, or maybe they aren’t financially able to afford them (not saying you live in a poor neighbor). The idea of looking for an interpreter is also good. Good Luck and don’t allow them to be that disrespectful.

Try finding out who is sponsoring this family if they are really African speaking individuals they would have to have a sponsor that speaks English, or simply take your stuff in your house, or buy a lock, you don’t need to no how to speak another language to take control of your own property.

Obviously they are acting dumb..Buy a a small shed and lock if u can afford it and put them away when not in use. This will almost eliminate the problem of them taking things. Ignorance, rudeness is not a language barrier, just universally rude.
