Hi,I did the following:
Question: Is using Mothers Clay bar a smart choice for detailing my car?
I recently purchased the Mothers California Gold Clay Bar paint Saving System. Has anyone used this on a newer black car with minor swirls in the paint? Does it work well? Any special things I should know before I try it on my car?

It will work fine and it won’t take as long as you might imagine. Just keep spraying and re-molding the clay to present a clean surface to the paint. Swirls will disappear. Then apply a polish and then a carnuba wax. After that only waxing is needed 2 or 3 times a year depending on weather, exposure etc.

a clay bar is used for surface contaminants it will NOT remove swirl marks run your fingers over the finish after washing does it feel like sand paper or smooth? if it is a newer car it should be smooth. what are you washing your car with? In other words what are you scratching your car with
use only a terry cloth covered sponge start at the roof and work your way to the bottom of the car. Use only mequires/mothers car wash. The next gen waxes such as eagle one nano wax or meg/mothers next gen waxes are far superior to any carnuba

hey 51 is right clay bar will not help with swirls…… i work at a detail shop. and if you have a black car be careful with what you wax it with. if you use an orbital you may just cause more swirl marks. also know that if you do not use the clay bar right you may just end up ruining the paint on the car. it takes little skill but some common inteligence about the products. find someone that know what they are doing and have the teach you on a part of the car. if anything most car dealers have a detail shop you may find someone their that will help you. we get it all the time at our dealership.
