The downside to this type of rack is that you are still exposing it to damage. On the bright side, there will be no contact with your car so you don’t worry about the paint being damaged. A common complain that people have about the hitch mount is that it can be quite tedious to use. You will have to remove in order to get access to your trunk and access all your belongings.

The third type of car bike racks is the roof mount rack. As the name suggests, this is a rack that you put into the roof of your car. Many people prefer roof racks because your bikes will not be at risk of being damaged. They are not in the way of other objects and are separated so it doesn’t damage the paint.

The downside to these bike racks is that they are quite expensive. They cost twice what other types of racks cost so that’s why a lot of people decide against them. Some of these racks do come with additional room to carry other accessories so it may be worth the investment.

So those are the most popular car bike racks you can choose from. You need to make your choice depending on how many bikes you want to carry around, how important it is to protect your bikes, and how much of a budget you have. Consider the pros and cons of each to make the right buying decision.
