How Much Longer Can This Car Go?

Okay, here is the deal.
I just bought a 2002 Toyota Celica yesterday. It’s my first car, but when my dad and I went to look at it, the car had 160,000 miles on it. The lady who sold it to us said that they were pretty much all highway miles, because she lived up in Kentucky and she did a lot of traveling there. Since I don’t know much about cars my dad looked over it and he really liked it. He said the suspension was good, it drove nice, it was well cared for (the lady took it in regularly to shop), and it has a lot of nice features. Is it really possible for someone to put on 160,000 miles in about 7 years?
My question is, how much longer do you guys think this car will go on without me having to get some major maintenance work done on it?
Thanks

That’s close to 23K miles per year. So you can bet they were hwy miles.
As to how much longer, at least another 100K miles and maybe even more IF YOU do the regular maintenance. There’s only ONE problem. OLD cars have old parts always waiting to break. So you have to be on constant guard to fix little things as they go bad.
    Good Luck…

if it was maintained properly before, and if you continue to maintain it properly, then it will last very long. if it was maintained properly, that 160 000 miles isn’t even half of its life.

first off check to see if the timming belt has been changed. If so you should be good for awhile just keep up whith thr oil changes.Should get aleast 200,000 miles or more. The timmimg belt job should run you from 400dollars to 800 dollars including water pump if driving off timmimg belt.

If they are highway miles and he did regular maintenance and clean carfax, no mods and could run to 5-600,000 or5 more. There are over 79,000 500,000 mile Toyotas in USA now registared and probably another 790,000 in World. They are so technologycly advaned they use 1/2 of parts in enigine of the top 3. The boday has 1/3 less welds, cost of ownership is lowest in world, reslae is top for all comapnies. All models are in top 5 of class in all different things like safety, reliability, ect. A 265 HP Camry SE next year with 253 lb’s of torque is heavier and bigger but will beat Mustang 0-60 and 1/4 mile. Thee beat all car building companies in USA together in employees, cars made, parts made, factories, Only true hybrid in world and best selling car in world.
