how do i know if the tension is adjusted right after i replace an alternator myself for car audio?

    it should have about a half of an inch or maybe a little more of free play in it,if its one that has a tensoiner on it ,it will automatically adjust its self,good luck on it.

    Just get it nice and tight. There should be very very little to no play in the belt when It is replaced.
