Here are the headlight guards from my Truck Gear Direct (hunter4x4) Brush Guard. There are a few spots on the stainless steel that are rusting and pitting, as it turns out, the same areas where the product is magnetic. The customer service center claims this is not covered under their lifetime warranty: “Sorry this is not a warranty issue . It looks like derbis has sat on the area and was never cleaned .So since that has happend it has ate at the finish. This is not warranty you must polish the guard. Derbis and chemicals will destroy the guard.” They never even attempted to address why the affected area of the stainless steel was magnetic. Watch the video and you can be the judge.

|The Benefits of a One Year Guarantee on Grill Guards
Article by Matt Miller
There is no question that grill guards take a beating. After all, if you were planning to drive in only perfect conditions, your grill wouldn’t need any protection. You could leave it exposed to the elements and not worry about any damage. Life happens and that’s where a grill guard becomes a necessary accessory for your car or truck. Based on the tough conditions your guard weathers, a one-year guarantee becomes a wonderful add-on.Purchase grill guards that come standard with a one-year guarantee. When you choose to have a grill guard installed on your car or truck, you will be protected against:- Heavy collision impact – Though grill guards usually will protect your grill from a light impact, a full-on collision is going to necessitate replacement. The bright side is this: without that grill guard, the front of your car or truck would be an absolute wreck. A one-year guarantee on your grill guard means that you will be protected if your guard has to do its job to the fullest.- Headlight damage – Think of all the dirt and debris that your car or truck encounters during a typical highway trip. Most of us have had our mirrors damaged by road debris, and this can mean a substantial replacement cost. Though you cannot put a window guard over your dashboard for obvious reasons, you can place a grill guard over your headlights. For the cost of one replacement headlight, you can protect both of them with a grill guard. It’s an obvious choice.- Shopping carts and other everyday collision objects – You may not be asked to fill an accident report upon hitting a rogue shopping cart, but that doesn’t mean that they can’t harm your vehicle. Everyday collisions like the shopping cart that was out of your line of sight can do major damage to your vehicle. Grill guards protect against that cart and bush you accidentally accelerate into. They keep minor accidents from turning into major bodywork bills.Though grill guards are by nature sturdy and dependable, a one-year guarantee offers added protection. If it comes standard and costs little or nothing extra, why wouldn’t you pick the grill guard that is guaranteed? It’s just good sense. Since you’ve opted to have grill guards installed on your car or truck, you have plenty of that.

@clipdan it wont rust unless u do cold working such as bending and cutting it is 100% stainless steel becuz stainless steal is not magnetic since this is one entire piece it can not have some section stainless steel and some that cant
@moparsrock you should the price is cheaper now and it is 100% stainless steel becuz ->304 stainless steel is still (mostly) non-magnetic (it can become weakly attracted to a magnet as a result of cold working) Since this is one entire piece it cannot have some section stainless steel and some section not. Cold working such as bending, cutting would cause the steel atoms move into orientations and became magnetic.

@ellenboa –> I do not have any issues with my TGD Black Grille Guard. So far, so good… However, I bought my truck in March, and I think the guard in April, so it hasnt seen a New England Winter, yet… So we’ll see…
@clipdan I was going to buy a black coated grille guard as well. Any rust, how’s it doing?
@sirona65 If you have a hardcopy of their warranty, you can dispute the amount with your bank. If you state that if you knew the truth that it was not 100% stainless, you certainly would not have ordered the product. Therefore they have sold you the product with misleading and inaccurate information.
My current rating for truck gear direct: Moderately High Fraud Risk
Just bought a BLACK coated grille guard for my Silverado from Truck Gear Direct. I didnt want the chrome/stainless look, but I am still concerned about rust… Time will tell I guess. Wish me luck.
