car brands|Car Brand Quality ? The 7 Best Car Brands in 1990
This article provides two methods for selecting the 7 best car brands sold in North America by the end of 1984 to 1989. The statistics are used in the calculations for the selection of the seven best car brands found in the April 1990 issue of Consumer Reports, probably the most respected and followed source of automobile quality information in North America. The two sections for the ranking of brand quality used Consumer Reports’ list of the trouble-prone cars and their reliability charts. Reliability is by the magazine as the small number of serious problems, which defines it measures every year by a participant survey.
The first ranking of the top seven auto brands, each brand prone to rare models. This ranking is a measure of how well each brand, the models successfully at the lower end of the model to avoid quality spectrum.
The second ranking Top seven car brands on the average overall reliability ratings of each brand models. The second tier is a measure of good a brand models performed on the entire model-quality spectrum.
brand quality of scarcity prone models
Each has its April issues Consumer Reports listed the prone models built since 1976. to avoid to form a brand quality measure of 1990 list of used cars, is the first step, each stamp the entries on the to include list. Every model year of each model is treated as a separate entry.
Next, as the number of car models sold under a brand name strong varies from brand to brand, it is necessary to take into account that a brand has with more models a greater chance of more model years of low quality have. In exchange for a potentially inflated or deflated, the frequency of prone years of construction within a brand, and variability in model data adequacy, the number of a trade mark entries in the Used-Cars-To-Do List CR divided by the total number of overall reliability ratings are found found for the brand in the reliability charts for the same issue of Consumer Reports. The general reliability ratings in the Trouble-index row from 1990 reliability charts.
By the method of calculation, this quality measure begins with 0 and can run on some value greater than 1. The value of 0 is the highest value reached by a mark and will only be achieved if a trademark no entry on the second-Cars-To-Do list has.
The top seven auto brands from the above calculations together with their quality ratings in descending order, with the best first. Only those brands at least 5 products CR reliability ratings are listed in the following list.
The 7 best car brands by rarity prone models
Honda Acura
with a worst-car br rating of 0 > Honda Honda, with a rating of 0
BMW BMW, with a rating of 0.05
Toyota Toyota, with a rating of 0.09
Ford Lincoln, with a rating of 0 , 11
Volkswagen Audi, with a rating of 0.12
Volvo, with a rating of 0.13
brand quality by the average of overall reliability Ratings
Wed To calculate brand quality ratings and installation of a brand ranking by Consumer Reports’ overall reliability ratings is a number associated with each CR rating. A is 1.0, an assessment of an above-average, a +0.5 to a rating of better than average, one attributed to a rating of 0 Average, a -0.5 to a rating of worse than average, and -1.0 to a rating of much worse than average. Then an average is over all years and models of the brand offer a comprehensive reliability assessment included. CR in 1990, the overall reliability ratings are in the trouble-index series found its reliability charts.
For this measure of quality is, the range of +1.0 (best) to -1.0 (the worst). The top seven auto brands from the above calculations, together with its quality ratings are listed in descending order, with the best first. Only those brands with at least 5 total CR reliability ratings are listed in the following list. The 7 best car brands by overall reliabilityHonda Acura
, with an average rating of 1.00 overall reliability
Honda Honda, with a rating of 1 , 00
Toyota Toyota, with a rating of 0.82
Mazda, with a rating of 0.69
Nissan Nissan, with a rating of 0.53
Fuji Heavy Industries “Subaru, with a rating of 0.50

@Slobodan600 I’m using SCN5 actuators and you can get them from simxperience [dot] com.
What actuators are you using and where did you get them?
@sugarmaker67 The only reason you hear the actuators so loud is because the camera microphone is very close to them. When you’re in the chair you actually don’t hear them much because of the sound from the speakers.
@Foxracing416 They are in the works
the whistling noise would drive me crazy
the only thing your missing is the fans to blow wind in your face lol
@CTSpecOps Sorry, it’s not a playseat. It’s a DIY motion platform using a real Sparco racing seat.
@Invisus944 Visit the X-Sim forums for more information on this DIY project.
@Invisus944 it might be a playseat
Wow, your setup and video made me really interested in driving simulation. Where can one find a seat like that?
@geezermeezer The iRacing service has a number of cars available but no european cars other than the VW Jetta at the moment. I’m certain that this will eventually come as they are expanding their contentent rapidly. Rest assured, when they do produce a car, it’s done very well. The latest vehicle to be laser scanned is the Williams F1 car and it is a blast to drive. iRacing focuses on real simulation and not arcade driving so it take much longer to prepare content.
@geezermeezer The motion platform in this video is a DIY project. I built it with information gathered from x-simulator [dot] de. You can also buy fully assembled platforms and starter kits from simxperience [dot] com. It’s not as expensive as you think to get started. Check out the site and let me know if you have any more questions about building one.
@mikwilson
one other question, why do people always use formula one cars to drive, cant you use like BMW, mercedes, toyota cars etc in this iRacing game?
@mikwilson
dont get me wrong, i would definitely play what you have, only problem is i cant afford a setup like that so im gona have to stick wit the 19 inch crt tv for now, haha
just wondering, where did you buy the motion sim chair from and how much was it, if its affordable i might be able to convince my cousin to buy one so i can play, lol xD
@geezermeezer in this video the angle on the side monitors are at 45 deg which is what most run. I’m now running my side monitors at 65 deg which I much prefer. If you prefer small monitors that you have to have very close to your face to give a proper sense of perspective then that is your choice and I will not try to convince you that my way is better, lol The view looks a lot different when you are sitting in the seat vs watching from a video so don’t knock it until you’ve tried it.
@mikwilson
no way ho zay, look at the racing car in the game it spans from far left edge of your left monitor to the far right edge of your right monitor. No car is that wide. To me it looks like your driving a giant racing car, lol xD
@geezermeezer From the perspective of the video camera it looks too big but behind the wheel while driving, the car and objects on the road are very true to life in size. It all depends on how you setup the FOV and distance from the monitors themselves.
lol, technically, the screens are just a bit too big and therefore it creates a car which is bigger than normal, but nethertheless, awesome setup, im so jealous =(
@Str8representing Sorry for the late response. iRacing does not take advantage of Crossfire so a 5970 will be a waste for iRacing. You will get great performance with a 5870. Note that iRacing is more CPU dependent than GPU so you will want the fastest CPU you can get. I run an i7 950 overclocked to 4.1ghz and I still can’t run with shadows on in a full grid while maintaining FPS above 80. Most run with shadows off to get decent FPS in all conditions.
What video card are you using? I’m building a 42″ 3 TV screens eyefinity rig myself and want to run max settings with full grid in iRacing and still have good fps. Can you suggest anything? Am thinking of ati 5870 vs 5970.
@ColbyChurch it would be a rip off buy a xbox instead it is better because irac is a horrible simulator.
Sounds like your budgies get excited when you play
@ColbyChurch It all depends on how far you want to go. I would suggest visiting simxperience [dot] com and also the x-sim forums as a start. I’ll be happy to answer any additional questions you have.
Hey, how much would all of this stuff cost me all together? I’m very interested. I’m an upcoming racer, and this would really come in handy and get me used to other types of cars as well as stock cars.
@ji3200 This simulator uses x-sim which has a plugin available for Richard Burns Rally. Visit simxperience [dot] com for details on the hardware and x-simulator [dot] de for details on x-sim.
I remember watching this race as a kid. Does anyone know where the full race can be seen? I was seven at the time, and up until then I’d only watched BTCC races, and I was blown away by the power and speed of the cars. If anyone knows where this can be watched in its entirety I’d really appreciate it.
…Hines should not have giving so much respect to the C1 drivers and stayed on the clean ideal line. He also showes too much respect for Mass by not defending himself when Mass says he was swerving, which at 0:22 you can clearly see he was not, he was driving on the exact same line as the others.
But if Hines would have stayed on the racing line, the C1 drivers would probably also be mad at Hines for not making room for them.
At 0:27 you can clearly see that the pink car of Hines spins on the dirty part of the track and hit Mass at the left rear. At 1:20 you can clearly hear Mass stating the same. Then at 1:31 he suddenly say: ‘I don’t know whether he spinned or not.’ At 2:11: ‘…either you started spinning…()…or you wanted to turn to the right.’
Mass then decided it was the latter situation, and advices his fellow driver to just stay where he is. I think Mass is correct there….
We were there but missed crash until saw this fantastic BBC film (they were slagged for missing Jag winning Le Mans a few weeks earlier so went overboard to compensate). Think Mass ott but wotabout Mauro Baldis brilliant avoidance in 61 Sauber!! Still third with Jag No 1 winning, recall Andy Wallace saying not paid to let others pass, when quizzed about his aggressive tactics, heehee)
Gr8 days, proper racing, varied cars with different characteristics, far better than boring F1 processions.
I don’t care if the guy used to race in F1 or not….if he’d started lecturing me about how to drive like that he would be missing some teeth!
I was standing just to the right of the camera that took these shots, it was suddenly quiet just before the cars came into view, It felt wierd as if somthing big was about to happen.then BANG!
Lucky nobody was hurt and the Steve Hines pink Tigra was actualy repaired in the pits and went on to complete the race.
Jochen Mass was not happy though. LOL
I was on the outside of clearways, aged 11 at the time. The driving of the Mercedes boys was amazing, especially the second car that took avoiding action. I remember some people screaming in the crowd as they thought the 61 car was going to clear the barrier. One if the hardest impacts I’ve ever seen. Great BBC delayed coverage from the following week!
this is the havoc tape
I was stood on the outside of Clark curve, just where Mass hit. Have been looking for years for this crash on youtube. Hains came down the straight in to Clearways, smack in the middle of the road, darted to the left then lost it on the marbles on the outside. I know it was accidentle, him hitting Mass, but what Mass was saying, was stay in one place, dont dart about the track. These are top drivers, who can find there way past the ameture C2 drivers, they dont need to dart out of the way.
one minute Mass does’nt know what happens and then he starts his lecture ! Seems to me that Hines is trying to keep out of the way and spins on the marbles. If it had been Mass who spun no doubt he would have called it a racing incident !! Twat.
I was at this race. I was watching from South Bank, so the pit buildings obscured my view of this crash. I didn’t realise anything had happened until Mass’s Sauber failed to appear.
Mass giving that “driving lesson” in the end
If only sportscars looked like this now, those Sauber C9′s looked great in that black colour scheme, great V8 sound as well. Regarding the accident Mass didn’t really need to lay into Hines cos Hines lost it on the dirty part of the track, he didn’t go into Mass on purpose.
I was at this race. We were in Paddock bend so missed the Mercedes crashing but I can just remember the noise coming from the massive crowd when it happened! Fascinating stuff between Mass and Hines
