Car Audio?

allright i dont know very much about cars or audio cause i had no reason to be. but now that i have my license and a car, i want to put a audio system in it that will make it seem like i have king kong in my trunk. i want the bass to be able to make your heart drop. so i need to know what to buy, where it goes in the car(like what goes on the doors, trunk, backseat, etc.), and whatever else i need to achieve what i want. oh and how expensive will it be?
by the way, i have a ’96 maxima if that has anything to do with it.

If you’re trying to step your game up to the level you’re implying, you’re looking at no less then about $6k for your system. If you go the sony explode route, I’ll be able to stomp you like no body’s business. If I was building one of my cars for SPL, I’d probably spend $12k at least. Which, is one of the reasons I don’t build SPL cars. The other reason is I’ve matured and much prefer to hear my music. But I understand the desire to pound.
Your best bet is going to be to determine how much money you are willing to spend, and then start figuring out where the best place to put your money is. If you keep your system under about 1k watts, you should be able to get by with the stock alternator. Once you break that 1k barrier, you’ll need to upgrade your alternator, battery and all your wiring too in order to support the amplifiers.
The key to high SPL, which is what you’re talking about if I’m not mistaken, is a delicate balance of the number of subs you have, the proper enlosure and all the power you can afford. If you know up front you can only afford 800 watts, then you can plan your subs around that and get more efficient subs. If you have deep pockets and are willing to spend the bucks, you’ll be able to upgrade your electrical system, buy some huge power and the subs to handle it all.
But what it really comes down to is money. How much are you willing to spend?

yes, you will need a new head unit [[a.k.a. radio/ cd player]] to power your new system
i personally have a sony xplod head unit and i love it
    it cost me $170
and then i have 4 kicker component speakers and a 1200 watt kicker sub and im about to buy a kicker amp.
im expecting my final costs to be around $1200 including the installation.
i saved a decent amount of money through buying the sub on ebay. i would reccommend buying stuff on ebay as you usually say a lot of money, just know what you’re looking for.
    hope i helped :)

Buy a Hearing Aid, because you will need that very soon. I thinking that hearing aids can be several thousand of dollars.
    Huh?? What???

and the amp goes in the trunk
dont forget to get two high output alternators (iraggi 200amp or better)
    5 batteries
and a couple of spools of wiring
you could also swap the amp and sub placements.
